Top of Page Exercise (Tai Chi, Kung fu) Chinese Shaolin Center "Chinese Shao-Lin Kung Fu (Shaolin Gung Fu) - a 1500 year old art developed by the Shaolin monks at the Honan Temple for health, meditation, physical conditioning and self-defense. The curriculum encompasses External Arts; empty hand, animal and classical weapon styles. Internal Arts include; T'ai Chi Chuan (Chinese Yoga), Pa Kua Chang, breathing and meditation." (from the website) What makes this art unique is that it traces its lineage to the Fukien temple through a succession of three grandmasters (students have the opportunity to study directly with the current grandmaster, Sin Kwang The, at least once a year). As was mentioned above, this system is descendent from Buddhist monks for not only physical health, but as a vehicle to enlightenment (the perfection of human potential - physical and mental/emotional). Only after many years of training have I, personally, come to realize the truly profound nature of this Shaolin system. I consider it ideal exercise, able to regulate and strengthen all aspects of the human being.
