These three marma, located just above and along the eyebrow, are each associated with one of the doshas and their respective emotions:
- Bhruh Antara, above the inner edge of the eyebrow, is associated with vata and grief, sadness, anxiety, fear, and loneliness
- Bhruh Madhya, in the middle just above the eyebrow, with pitta and anger, frustration, or rejection
- Bhruh Agra, on the outer upper edge of the eyebrow, with kapha and joy, love, and compassion
These areas all benefit the eyes and local circulation, relieve headaches, release stress, calm the mind and release their respective repressed emotions via tears (Lad & Durve, 2008, p. 105-6).
As with so many marma points, the Bhruh family points above the right eyebrow are more closely connected with the liver and gallbladder, the left with spleen and pancreas (Lad & Durve, 2008, p. 106).
These three points correspond, in location, almost exactly to Zan zhú Urinary Bladder 2 (UB2), Yú yao (a non-channel point, designated M-HN-6), and Si zhú kong San Jiao 23 (SJ 23, aka “Triple Burner” TB 23), respectively (the acupuncture points, opposed to being located above the eyebrow, are found within it).
The point associated with Bhruh Madhya, Yú yao, is, generally, indicated for eye disorders, with indications such as redness, swelling, pain of the eyes, and twitching or drooping of the eyelids (Deadman & Al-Khafaji, 1998, p. 566).
